Before coming to Discovery house, I didn’t want to live anymore. I was giving up on life.
My addiction won. I couldn't manage my life, and everything was falling apart right in
front of my eyes. I believed I couldn't do anything about it. I was terrified, I was alone, I
was broken. That all changed after coming to Discovery House.
I came into Discovery House a shell of a man and was greeted with hope, love,
compassion and faith. I learned there is a place where men can go and become
vulnerable and open wounds from childhood in a safe space with other men looking for
a new way of life, a sober life. I was sincerely amazed at the magic that was going on in
this place. Men helping men fight every day through a lifetime of abuse and trauma that
lead us all down to our rock bottoms. Discovery House saved my life and allowed me to
grow in ways I could not even fathom.
Their programming and structure work. From the groups to the daily check-ins, I was
given the opportunity to learn about addiction and how it has affected my life. I was
offered pathways to work through my traumas. Getting clean and sober and living a life
of recovery is terrifying, but when Discovery House has your back it makes a world of
difference. Discovery House helped me find myself in ways I could not do alone. As I
am writing this testimony, I am over 6 months sober, started a new career, and enrolled
in school for things I am truly passionate about. My life has completely changed over
the last 6 months. I owe my new life to Discovery House and everyone who works there.
